To celebrate the release of Daniel Johnston: A Portrait of the Artist as a Potter in North Carolina, we are offering copies of the book signed by Daniel Johnston and author Henry Glassie and your choice of a barrel-shaped mug or a straight-sided stein, made by Daniel with local clay from Seagrove, North Carolina.
After twenty years of friendship and dinner parties, another eight years of long interviews, much laughing and a little crying, a beautifully written and insightful book has been published. Henry Glassie spent years interviewing potters Daniel Johnston and his teacher, Mark Hewitt, alongside other accomplished potters from North Carolina such as Ben Owen, Chad Brown, and David Stuempfle. Glassie traveled as far as England visiting potters and studios, tracing the lineage that intimately defines the aesthetic Johnston has mastered. |
